KK Mwenyewe’s bff and fellow content creator Kafengo, has revealed that the comedian died by his side, while waiting in line for medical attention at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
Kafengo spoke during a memorial held on Monday, July 21, at Blue Springs Hotel, Thika Road.
Earlier reports stated KK died from chest complications. However, Kafengo clarified that KK had been battling a recurring stomach condition since 2020, mainly acidity. This condition is known to cause chest pain and discomfort if left untreated.
KK received treatment several times and often appeared to recover. But in recent months, his condition worsened.
“Two months ago, it got more serious. A month later, it worsened. On Friday, July 11, he visited a private hospital and was referred to a public one,” said Kafengo.
That weekend, KK was treated and seemed better. He stayed with his parents in Kirigiti and planned to visit a public hospital on Monday.
“We had plans to meet and shoot content that day,” Kafengo said. “He was cheerful when we last met. None of us thought he would pass away.”
On Monday morning, Kafengo received a call from their director. KK needed to be taken to the hospital.
“He could still talk and even drink water. He didn’t seem very serious,” said Kafengo.
How KK Mwenyewe Died in Line at the Hospital
They found a car and took him to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital. At the hospital, they sat in line, waiting.
“While waiting, I noticed KK had gone silent. I got worried and called the doctor, even though there was a queue,” said Kafengo.
The doctor came. KK had already passed away.
“It was so sudden,” Kafengo said.
KK lived with his elderly grandmother. He was the sole breadwinner. Kafengo asked well-wishers to support the family.
KK will be buried on Wednesday, July 23, at his family home in Gathiroini, Lari, Kiambu County.
Fans, friends, and fellow content creators have continued to send tributes. Many praised Kafengo for standing by KK until the very end.
Former DP Rigathi Gachagua has eulogized KK, much to the chagrin of netizens who chastized him for not honoring KK when he was alive. Notably KK’s imitatation of Riggy G were very popular.
And President Ruto made a Ksh1 million donation to his family.
