Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah’s father is dead.
Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi died on the morning of Thursday, September 4, 2025, while sleeping at his Kikuyu home. He was 105 years old.
He had been admitted to The Karen Hospital the previous week for an undisclosed illness and was discharged a few days before his death.

The news was confirmed in an official statement by the Office of the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetang’ula. Parliament was informed of the death later in the evening.
According to the Speaker’s notice, members of Parliament and the public will be able to pay their condolences to the family starting Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Funeral arrangements have begun, with details of the requiem mass and burial to be announced later.
Mzee Ngugi is remembered as the patriarch of the Ichung’wah family, who lived for more than a century and witnessed different generations.
