KIBET BULL SHARES STEP-BY-STEP ACCOUNT OF HIS ABDUCTION

Viral cartoonist Gideon Kibet, popularly known as Kibet Bull, has shared a detailed account of his abduction in December 2024.

It all began shortly after meeting Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

Following the meeting, he boarded a Super Metro matatu heading to Kikuyu.

Upon alighting, he noticed a suspicious-looking woman nearby.

“After getting off the Super Metro, just about five meters away, a certain suspicious lady came. I heard her saying, ‘mko wapi?’ Then, all of a sudden, four men appeared out of nowhere,” Kibet said.

The masked men grabbed him, tore off his shirt, and blindfolded him using the fabric.

They tied his hands and forced him into their vehicle before speeding off.

Senator Okiya Omtatah raised the alarm after Kibet Bull disappeared. And explained that Kibet was trailed by a white Subaru even as he was coming to attend their meeting.

Kibet chose not to reveal details about where he was held or the treatment he endured during the 12 days of captivity.

“I cannot talk about it now,” he stated.

Kibet Bull Released

After his release, Kibet was dropped off in Luanda, Vihiga County, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Disoriented and stranded, he knocked on doors at three houses seeking help, but no one responded.

Kibet felt unsafe near the highway, and sought refuge at a nearby disco matanga—a traditional funeral gathering with music.

“I felt it was better to stay at the disco matanga than risk being out on the highway where my abductors might return,” he explained.

Kibet defended his actions, explaining that the disco matanga provided a safe space until daylight.

Kibet Bull was released on the same day as his abducted brother Ronny Kiplagat, and activists Billy Mwangi, and Bernard Kavuli.

And this was on the morning of planned protests against abductions of young men in Kenya.
