Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau, also known as Kate Actress, is elated after receiving an invitation from the US Ambassador to Kenya, Her Excellency Meg Whitman, for a State dinner at the White House.

Taking to her social media, Kate expressed her excitement and gratitude for the invitation.
“Good morning. This village girl will be attending the STATE DINNER at the White House & a Luncheon at the #TylerPerry studios in Atlanta by invitation from Her Excellency #AmbassadorMegWhitman,” she wrote.
Kate also thanked the US embassy in Nairobi for their support of the Kenyan creative industry.
She expressed, “@usembassynairobi your efforts and commitment towards the growth of the Kenyan creative economy is greatly appreciated. 🇺🇸🇰🇪,”

This is not Kate Actress’ first time being invited to a prestigious event. On March 26, 2022, she was the only Kenyan artist to attend the second season premiere of Bridgerton in Johannesburg, South Africa, hosted by Netflix.
Kate’s invitation to the White House coincides with President William Ruto’s visit to the US for a three-day state tour. During his visit, Ruto, accompanied by content creator and comedian Eddie Butita, is expected to explore opportunities within the creative economy.
Butita shared his excitement on social media, saying, “Leaving for the USA today. Thank you His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for choosing me to accompany you to the United States Of America State Visit hosted by the USA President His Excellency President Joe Biden. The fact that I’m part of the Head of States delegation is a clear sign and we are happy that the creative industry is part of the conversations we are going to have during this trip.”
Kate’s invitation to the White House and the upcoming luncheon at Tyler Perry Studios mark significant recognition for her contributions to the creative industry in Kenya.
