The family of Ebbie Noelle Samuels will finally get justice after about four years of waiting. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations was allowed to detain former Gatanga CCM Secondary School Deputy Principal Elizabeth Wairimu Gatimu for seven days. Detectives accused the suspect of assaulting the late Ebbie for having a hairstyle that contravened the school rules.

Wairimu appeared before Kiambu deputy registrar Sylvia Motari on Monday. And is expected to undergo a mental assessment at Mathare Mental hospital before February 9, where she will be arraigned before a High Court judge for plea taking.

Kiroko Ndegwa,  who is Ebbie’s lawyer, said Ebbie’s justice was delayed for four years and having an accused person arraigned in court today rekindles hope of getting justice for his client.

In April 2022, Kenyans from various walks of life walked to former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Harambee House office demanding swift action from the authorities. See article.

Ebbie’s mother speaks

Ebbie’s mother Veronica Wanjiru Samuels welcomed the decision of the court as well. “After 1419 DAYS of Praying and waiting. Finally we see Justice’s wheels begin to roll. It is Happening. See you in Court!” she said on Instagram yesterday, January 30.

Wanjiru was also grateful to God for the turn of events. “Thank you, Jesus Christ. Your word is truth, never doubted you.You are not man that lie,” she said. “I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them,” she said.
