Kenya’s Harambee Stars stunned Morocco’s Atlas Lions with a 1-0 win in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), earning both glory and cash.

Rambok Ryan Wesley Ogam scored the only goal with a sharp finish that left Moroccan goalkeeper Al Harrar helpless. The goal sent the crowd into wild celebrations.

Kenya’s joy was tested just before halftime when Chrispine Erambo was shown a red card for a rough tackle, leaving the Stars with only ten men. Despite the disadvantage, the team held firm, defending their lead with skill and determination.

Harambee Starts Awarder Ksh 2.5 Million

The win gave Morocco their first loss in the tournament. For Harambee Stars, it also meant a financial reward. President William Ruto had promised Sh1 million for every win and Sh500,000 for a draw. With this victory, the team’s total earnings in the tournament have reached Sh2.5 million.

Harambee Stars had already collected Sh1 million after beating the Democratic Republic of Congo in their opening match. They also earned Sh500,000 from a draw with Angola.

The 10-man Stars fought hard in the second half against the two-time CHAN champions, soaking up pressure and denying Morocco an equalizer. In the end, sweat, skill, and discipline brought both victory and a healthy payday.
