Veteran radio host and former Harambee Stars coach, Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulei, recently shared how a trip to India to donate a kidney ended up saving his own life.

Mulei had accompanied his younger brother, who needed a kidney transplant, but while there, something unexpected happened.

Ghost revealed that during the trip, he decided to undergo a full-body check-up out of caution.

He was unaware that a life-threatening condition, sleep apnea, had been affecting him for years.

Speaking about his experience, Mulei recalled always feeling extremely tired, even falling asleep unexpectedly, including while driving or during his radio shows.

What seemed like a routine health check took a serious turn when doctors in India conducted a sleep apnea test. The results left the doctors shocked and told Mulei how lucky he was to still be alive. He underwent surgery to correct the issue, which involved removing a large piece from his throat.

The coach emphasized how difficult life had been before the diagnosis. Constant fatigue had impacted his daily routine, but the surgery gave him a fresh start.

“I feel much better now,” Mulei shared, reflecting on how the trip, originally meant to save his brother, ended up saving him as well.

Though Mulei’s brother sadly passed away in 2021, the journey to India became a pivotal moment in the media personality’s life, changing his health for the better.
