Former KTN News anchor Michael Oyier has tragically passed away while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
The father of two reportedly collapsed in his Lavington residence in Nairobi on Wednesday, April 17, after complaining of a severe headache. Despite receiving medical attention, his condition worsened, leading to his untimely death.
Details surrounding the exact cause of Oyier’s illness remain unclear, with doctors yet to provide a definitive explanation for his sudden deterioration. A postmortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Having joined Standard Group Media in 2002, Oyier served as a news anchor at KTN for nine years before departing in 2012. During his tenure, he delivered the news. And he contributed to the editorial department as a writer and journalist.
With over two decades of experience in the field, Oyier was known not only for his journalistic prowess but also for his talents as a public speaker, moderator, master of ceremony, facilitator, voice-over artist, singer, and actor.

When Oyier left his media career, he transitioned into leadership coaching, offering guidance and support to leaders and teams both locally and internationally.
Oyier was highly regarded by his colleagues for his kindness and professionalism. He devoted himself to supporting mental health as a psychologist and life coach, assisting people and groups in overcoming different obstacles.
Oyier’s academic achievements include a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Management, and certificates in leadership coaching and executive leadership.
He collaborated with esteemed medical institutions such as Mathare Mental Hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital, as well as private organizations, to provide comprehensive support to those in need.
