Nwachukwu, who became famous after releasing her hit record “Ekwueme”, was said to have died at an Abuja hospital on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Multiple reports had it that the mother of four was battling an undisclosed ailment months before she drew her last breath.
In the now-deleted post, Nigerian Gospel maestro, Frank Edwards revealed that he and others tried everything they could to rescue her life but to no avail.
Edwards’ post read, “So that unreasonable human being finally put off a shining light. I won’t say much now. We tried to stop this.”
Domestic violence
It remained unclear who Edwards was referring to with his message. Until her family members and colleagues disclosed that she was beaten to death by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, who has now been arrested by the police.
Ms Favor Made, Osinachi’s sister, stated that Osinachi died as a result of a ‘cluster of blood’ in the chest caused by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu’s alleged assault.
“We heard it was cancer that killed Osinachi. She did not die of cancer. The husband, Mr Peter Nwachukwu hit her with his leg on the chest. All this while, he has been beating her but my sister hides all that she was passing through from us,” she told Vanguard (a publication in Nigeria) on Sunday.
The singer was afraid that religion would mock her and possibly ostracize her from the church. So she endured the domestic violence.

Her sister added that her family had advised her to leave the marriage. But she refused until Peter allegedly kicked her in the chest and caused her death.
“We told her that they are not divorcing and that it’s just a separation. But she felt that God is against divorce. She would always tell us to relax and that the man will change,”her sister said.
Her death has left a lot of people wondering what role religion plays in propagating abuse. Most religions do not make divorce an option and with the stigma of divorce and the doctrine of submission prevailing in the minds of many women, they may stay in such marriages.
