The family of Barasa, a young casual worker at Nairobi Street Kitchen in Westlands, is demanding justice after he was found dead inside the club’s elevator under unclear circumstances.
The incident, which occurred at dawn on Thursday, December 5, 2024, has sparked suspicions of foul play and raised serious questions about what really happened.
Barasa, who regularly worked late-night shifts as a batman at the entertainment spot, was discovered lifeless in the elevator early that morning. However, the exact cause of his death remains unknown, leaving his family desperate for answers.
Adding to their frustration, the club’s management has reportedly refused to release CCTV footage from the premises, which could help explain Barasa’s final moments. There are also claims that the CCTV camera inside the elevator was removed after the incident, fueling speculation of a cover-up.
“If there’s nothing to hide, why remove the cameras? We just want to know the truth,” a family member said, reflecting the growing anger and confusion surrounding the case.
The family reported the matter to Parklands Police Station, but progress has been slow. Insiders from the hospitality industry, who spoke anonymously, expressed concern over the authorities’ lack of urgency in handling the case. They argue that Barasa’s death under such suspicious circumstances warrants a swift and thorough investigation.
“It’s heartbreaking to see how little is being done. This was someone’s child, someone’s loved one. He deserves justice,” said a source close to the family.
The family, alongside members of the community, is now calling for transparency and accountability. They are demanding the immediate release of the CCTV footage and a proper investigation into Barasa’s death.
Until the truth comes to light, the questions and suspicions surrounding his tragic death will remain unresolved.
