Former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder Collins Okoth, also known as Gatusso, is currently under investigation for alleged involvement in the killing and defilement of a 5-year-old child in Nairobi’s Baba Dogo Estate.
Gatusso was held at Pangani Police Station awaiting court arraignment today as the police probe the matter.
Football enthusiasts have expressed shock and are calling for justice as details of the incident unfold.
Just last week, Gatusso was seen analyzing the Mashemeji derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, where Gor emerged victorious.
This is not the first time the Kenyan international midfielder has courted controversy. Eleven years ago, he was accused of child neglect.
Gattuso allegedly fathered a child- Stephamaysy Ignesious, with another soccer star, Jackline Adhiambo, who disclosed that he denied responsibility for their daughter since her birth.
Adhiambo, who plays as a goalkeeper for Moyas Football Club, emphasized her struggle to make ends meet, calling for Gatusso to fulfill his parental duties.
“I do not want Gattuso to marry me; I just want him to pay school fees for our daughter,” Adhiambo stated.
