DCI ISSUE UPDATE ON EBBIE’S MURDER CASE #justiceforebbie

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Wednesday night issued an update on the murder of Ebbie Noelle Samuels. Allow me to say, it’s funny how the update was issued hours before Kenyans went to the streets to carry out a peaceful demonstration demanding justice for the brutal killing of the 15-year-old.

In a series of tweets seen on their official Twitter account, DCI confirmed what we already knew through Lynn Ngugi.

Distinguished journalist Lynn Ngugi had interviewed Martha Wanjiru, Ebbie’s mother, about four weeks ago. Martha had disclosed that it has been three years since her daughter died under unknown circumstances. And no one has ever been brought to book about the same.

Witnesses

Martha had pleaded with anyone who had the slightest of information regarding her daughter’s death to show up and share. As a result, Ebbie’s former schoolmate came out and gave a detailed description of what transpired.

She disclosed that the night before her untimely death, Ebbie was brutally beaten by the deputy principal for styling her hair. Her whole body was swollen. An autopsy carried by the government pathologist confirmed that Ebbie died as a result of blunt force trauma, due to head injury.

The late Ebbie

The DCI has confirmed pretty much the same thing. According to the detectives, the school witnesses tried to intimidate the witnesses making it hard for them to gather information. The officers were thereby forced to wait until schools closed for the March holidays to interview her classmates.

DCI confirmed that they have recorded several statements all of which contradict the account issued by the school administration.

The team established that on the fateful night, Ebbie had been assaulted severely by the deputy principal on allegations that her hair had been styled contrary to school regulations.

The school administration had lied that the form one student had fallen from her bed the night before her classmates noticed her motionless body, in an attempt to cover up for the murder.

The walk

Earlier today a group of Kenyans went to the streets to conduct peaceful demonstrations demanding justice for Ebbie. The group walked in town from Jevanjee gardens toward the Ministry of Education where they demanded Prof. Magoha to come out and comment on the same. He however did not show up but one of his representatives did and issued the same fallacies we are used to. The serious-looking lady only said that work is being done behind the scenes to ensure justice is served.

The group proceeded to the Ministry of Justice and later to the presidents office. And so far we are not sure what the progress of the matter is.
