NACADA offers to support Conjestina’s treatment.

Recently Kenyans got to learn the sad state of former boxer Conjestina Achieng.

It came to light that the professional boxer has had financial and mental problems since 2011.

See the story.

NACADA Chief Executive Officer Victor Okioma indicated that there’s a need for Conjestina to be taken to rehab in a good time. So as to avoid further health challenges.

On Tuesday, NACADA launched a team of its personnel that picked her up from her home in Yala. And took her to Thika where she was set to begin her rehabilitation program. So the team consulted with her family and Conjestina was accompanied by her son and sister.

The NACADA CEO pointed out that Conjestina had been admitted to a different rehab with the support of Mike Sonko. But her current situation was as a result of relapse.

The National Authority For The Campaign Against Drugs And Alcohol Acknowledged that relapse is part of recovery.

And they are willing to offer Conjestina and her family the necessary support through the process.

The authority is devoted to paying her one month bill even though the authority does not have a budget set for persons with substance use disorder. As a result, the authority is heeding to the call like every other Kenyan.

Victor Okioma went ahead to thank sports journalist Carol Radull. Because she was the one who highlighted Conjestina’s plight on social media.

And went ahead to begin a funds drive together with Conje’s mother and son, to raise funds for her livelihood and treatment.

Okioma also called upon other Kenyans to support the initiative so that Conjestina can receive the much-needed treatment and support. And be back on her feet.

Because as a role model to many and upcoming boxers her health is very important. So that she can continue mentoring the young boxers.
