Joseph Mwadulo’s Chavakali High School class teacher, Steven, has shed light on why he did not immediately inform Kareh B about her son Joseph ‘Joe’ Mwadulo’s tragic passing. Notably, a few days after losing her son, Kareh B called out the school for not condoling with her.

Chavakali student and Kareh B’s son Joe Mwadulo laid to rest.

During Mwadulo’s burial on April 12, Steven explained that on the fateful night when the seventeen year old died, his phone was off. And that he only saw the missed calls and condolence messages upon waking up.

Mwadulo, Kareh B’s teenage son, was the sole fatality in the April 1accident, when the Easy Coach bus transporting Chavakali High School students home for the April holidays crashed in Kisumu at around 9PM.

He hurried to school upon learning of the accident involving his students but was overwhelmed by shock and could not bring himself to inform Mwadulo’s mother right away.

During Mwadulo’s burial in Embu County, Steven shared his account, explaining that he had engaged with parents on their class WhatsApp group before retiring for the night.

He recounted, “I went to relax after a long day, but before I slept, I chatted with parents on our class wall until around 10 pm. My phone ran out of battery, so I left it in the living room,”

The following morning, Steven discovered the tragic news through missed calls and WhatsApp messages.

Despite Kareh B’s inquiries about her son’s whereabouts, Steven, still reeling from the shock, needed time to confirm the devastating events.

Upon confirming the heartbreaking news at school, Steven felt overwhelmed and returned home, where he struggled to process the tragedy alone. “I just wanted to be alone. That’s what happened, and that is why we are here,” he expressed.
