Love can lead people to do unexpected things, as Carol Sonnie, the ex-girlfriend and mother of Mulamwah’s daughter, discovered firsthand.
Sonnie shared her experience of being dumped despite going above and beyond to show love to her partner’s mother.
During a candid conversation with her friends Mylee Staicey, Dorea Chege, and Morin Actress, Sonnie opened up about her past relationships in a video titled “Craziest things we have done for love.”
Despite maintaining anonymity regarding their ex-partners, Sonnie recounted a time when she sewed a matching dress with her ex’s mother, hoping to win his affection.
“Ushawahi shona kitenge inafanana na mother-in-law? Unashona yako halafu unachukua measurements zake unapeleka kitenge ashonewe yake?” she recalled.
(“Have you ever sewed a matching kitenge dress with your mother-in-law? You sew yours then take her measurements to have hers sewn too?”)

Sonnie even accompanied her ex’s mother to church, both dressed in matching outfits. Despite her genuine intentions and sacrifices, Sonnie’s partner still left her.
“Nakaanga chini najiuliza nini ilikuwa imeniingia because ningechoose mamangu, the guy or my dad, but I just wanted to please the guy. He was a mamas boy. Na bado nikawachwa,” she said.
( “I sat down thinking to myself what had gotten into me because I could have chosen my mother, the guy, or my father, but I just wanted to please the guy. He was a mama’s boy. And yet, I was still left,”)
