Nelly Chepkoech, the bride at the center of the much-talked-about cancelled Bomet wedding, came forward to shed light on the reasons behind the unexpected turn of events. Initially the 23 year old was to wed Amos Rono on December 9. And at Kapsoiyo Africa Gospel Church (AGC) with Pastor Clement Chalulot as the officiant. But the plans never materialized.
Reason behind the Canceled Bomet Wedding
Initially, speculation surrounding the cancellation pointed fingers at the bride-to-be. Screenshots from the wedding WhatsApp group chats suggested that Nelly sought more time to make a decision. These messages further claimed that both the church and the parents from both sides were in agreement with Nelly’s request.
“The main reason the wedding was postponed is Nelly requested to be gven more time. The parents from both sides considered her request.”
The message stated in part.
The Bride Speaks
Nelly Chepkoech blamed lack of requisite documents as the reason the wedding did not proceed.
“Today was my wedding day but when we arrived yesterday, we were informed that the wedding could not proceed. Because of (lack of) some letters (documents).”
She explained
The 23-year-old also expressed that she initially looked forward to the wedding day. And that its cancellation was heartbreaking.
“We were waiting for the day like never before. But the Bomet wedding cancellation was sad news. Everyone including the parents cried.”
Nelly said.
Furthermore, the bride-to-be clarified that she did not leave home, contrary to the circulating news on social media.
“Given my surprise at the circulating information, I would like to inform social media users that I am at home and have not run away.”
She said.
Nelly Chepkoech also expressed her readiness for the new wedding date the church would set. As it was just moved forward and not completely cancelled.
‘I am prepared for the new date when it arrives. We are awaiting the Reverend to provide us with a new date. The wedding was postponed, not canceled.”
She stated.
