After more than 15 days of uncertainty, Billy Mwangi and Peter Muteti have been found alive, bringing relief to their families.
The two young men were abducted under mysterious circumstances on December 21, 2024, sparking a nationwide search.

Billy Mwangi was forcibly taken from a barbershop by four armed men who whisked him away. After he disappeared, his father begged President Ruto to forgive his son and appealed for his safe return.
Similarly, Peter Muteti Njeru was abducted by four armed men from a shop in Uthiru at around 9 AM, where he had gone to buy breakfast. And he was forcedinto a Toyota Prado.
At the time, there were speculations that the abduction might have been linked to a controversial X post made by Muteti. He published images of a middle-aged black man who closely resembles President Ruto lying in state.

Mwangi, 22, and Muteti, 24, were found on January 6 by good Samaritans who helped reunite them with their families.
Mwangi arrived at his father’s home in Majengo in good health, where he was embraced by his mother and relatives.
Muteti’s family also confirmed his safe return, though he is disoriented and apparently unable to speak.
The National Police Service had distanced itself from the investigation, leaving the search to continue with limited updates. However, the sudden and unexpected return of Mwangi and Muteti has raised more questions about the motives behind their abduction.
Their release comes just ahead of planned Monday protests, known as Maandamano, where citizens are expected to rally for various social and political causes. The timing of their return has sparked discussions about the connection between their abduction and the upcoming demonstrations.
As the investigation into their abduction continues, their families are simply relieved to have them back safe.
