Bernard Kavuli, just like Kibet Bull has shared the painful details of his 15 days in captivity.
He was abducted on December 22nd, 2024, at a petrol station in Ngong and faced harsh conditions before being freed in Uasin Gishu County.
His abduction caused a buzz online with netizens endlessly tweeting “free Bernard Kavuli.”

What did Bernard Kavuli Go Through?
Kavuli described how he was blindfolded and held naked in a dark room for the first five days.
He was beaten constantly and given no food. He only survived on water that the kidnappers gave him two out of the first five days.
Kavuli was also constantly beaten and his head shaved by force.
“They slapped me and hit my back with their fists day and night. They even shaved my head by force,” he said.
After five days, he was moved to another location, which he believes was deep in a forest.
And this is where he spent ten more days.
Though locked in separate rooms, he briefly interacted with other captives.
He estimates about 30 people were still being held when he was released.
Kavuli prayed continuously throughout his ordeal, hoping to survive and see his family again. He lost six kilograms during his captivity but stayed hopeful.
“I kept praying to God to bring me back home alive,” he said.
Bernard Kavuli Released
Bernard Kavuli was released on January 6 at Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu. Four other abductees were released on the same day ahead of planned protests over the abductions.
When he finally returned home to Kalamba Muyo in Mwingi North, Kitui County, he was greeted with joy and relief.
Villagers and boda boda riders came out in large numbers to welcome him. The celebrations began at his home church and ended with a gathering at the local market.
Kavuli is lucky to have returned to his family safe and sound. Not many abductees escape with their life. Others are still missing.
