Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu was shot eight times in the attack that claimed his life.

A postmortem conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor shows he died from massive bleeding after his neck vessels and spine were injured.

“We found that Wakili was shot eight times and most of the gunshots came from the right side of the body. We were able to recover two bullets, which were given to the investigating officers for ballistic purposes,” Dr. Oduor said.

One of the eight bullets was lodged in his spine.

And another was stuck in his chest below the arm. Most of the bullets had entry and exit wounds.

Dr. Oduor said the injuries were severe enough to cause death. He added that the recovered bullets will undergo ballistic analysis to help identify the firearm and the caliber used.

The autopsy was carried out in the presence of family pathologists, police, and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo.

Police said the attackers of Kyalo Mbobu struck with chilling precision.

Detectives are now following several leads. They are checking his phone records, questioning the people he met that day, and speaking to his law firm partners.

The investigation team has also visited three banks where the lawyer had accounts to find out if there were recent transactions that could be linked to the killing.

His family will be interviewed to establish if he had shared any fears about his safety.

Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin has appealed to the public to share any information. Tips can be reported to the nearest police station, through the toll-free number 0800 722 203, or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
