The hashtag Aquinas school has been trending on Twitter for almost a week now. I ain’t gonna lie I’m not an ardent fan of Twitter that is why this article is late.
On 30th January, a form one student was sodomized at Aquinas Boys High School. The boy went to the dispensary and reported that he was having a headache and family issues which rendered him suicidal thoughts. He was directed to the school counselor for guidance. A week later when students were being chased home to collect few arrears, the boy was also sent home even though his fee balance was only fifteen hundred shillings.
When the mother called the school, she was informed that her son had been sent home for fees balance. And she should also take him to hospital as he was complaining of being sick. It was at home that the mother noticed his son seemed awkward and prompted him to speak. The poor young man revealed that he had been sodomized.
So the mother sort medical help instantly at Thika Level five hospital and also reported the case to the Thika police station.
A few days later, the mother identified as Edith, and a few parents of boys in the school took to the streets to demonstrate against the act. And the fact that the school was trying to cover up the story to protect it’s image.
Unfortunately, the parents were arrested by the City Council and locked up at Central Police Station.
In a press conference, the school Principal claimed that had only got to learn about the incident after the boy was sent home.
He added that the school has a security system but it was noted that the CCTV only captures outside the dorm.
He has called upon the mother to take the boy to school, because she already took his belongings so that he can bear witness. We need to have the boy in school to give testimony so that we can know what time and where it happened.
The principal added that he sympathized with the boy; we sympathize with the situation because he was our student. We would not want to keep the culprit here if he knew him... Watch video below.
