A decade-old email exchange between comedian Eddie Butita and former Capital FM host Miss Mandi has resurfaced, generating mixed reactions online. This leak coincides with Butita’s high-profile tour in the United States alongside President William Ruto.

The Leaked Email

Miss Mandi

The conversation, dating back 11 years, reveals a harsh exchange between Miss Mandi and a then-struggling Eddie Butita. Butita, eager to secure a co-hosting gig at Capital FM, reached out to Miss Mandi, who was a prominent radio personality at the time. Her response was dismissive and condescending, starkly contrasting Butita’s sincere request for an opportunity. She implied that he was not funny enough for the radio job.

“So, I checked out the clip and as much as I saw the audience laugh, I did not. Secondly, we are not looking to hire a comedian because we are not trying to fit in with what radio stations do here. Thirdly, the last comedian whom I had live did not make me laugh and I am beyond skeptical of bringing on a comedian to my show. I always source for funny clips. JB was the only comedian on my show that made me laugh hysterically and he is usually on the drive show because my boss put him there. Anyway, I need to get feedback from my boss, I guess it all depends on whether he laughs or not.”

Butita’s Rise to Prominence

Fast forward to today, Eddie Butita has become a significant figure in the entertainment industry. He is a key point person for Netflix in East Africa, a central figure in President Ruto’s creative industries agenda, and a successful producer with his own production company.

Currently, Butita is on an official tour in the United States, participating in high-profile engagements with industry giants such as Steve Harvey. He is also set to sign important agreements at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, showcasing East African talent on the global stage.

Mixed Reactions Online

The resurfaced email has triggered a wave of reactions on social media. Supporters praise Butita for his perseverance and success despite the discouraging response he received years ago.

Critics, on the other hand, have called out Miss Mandi for her dismissive attitude, reflecting on how a more supportive response could have impacted Butita’s early career.

Michael Ollinga Oruko commented, “All things work for good. Even Judas betrayal contributed to salvation of Christians.”

Lilian Okoth wrote, “If there was no rejection, the promotion would not have come. Thank God for those who reject you, they make you find better openings.”

Miss Mandi Apologizes

Once exposed for her mean streak,, the Capital FM presenter issued an public apology letter to anyone she might have hurt while working together. Mandi was contrite that some of her actions caused others, specifically former colleagues distress.

Butita Accepts Apology

Graciously, Eddie Butita accepted Miss Mandi’s apology and even offered her a job.

“I forgave her and I have also accepted her apology. You all can tell Mandi that I have no problem with her. I wish you all the best and I believe in your work, currently, we have SPM Buzz and we have segments there and we are willing to work with you. You can bring your cooking show because we believe in your work,” Butita said.
