Anthony Njomo, an American embassy employee was shot dead on Saturday, May 25, outside Qukin Sports Lounge in Kiambu County.
According to a report filed at the Kiambu Police Station, Njomo, was struck in the back by a stray bullet after a reveller, who was involved in a brawl, discharged his firearm outside the club.
The management of Qukin Sports Lounge confirmed the incident, clarifying that Njomo was not part of the group that had the altercation.
“Last night, around 2 in the morning, an unfortunate incident involving a group of people was going on outside the establishment. In the heat of the moment, someone discharged a firearm, injuring Njomo, who later passed away. The incident was captured on our CCTV cameras facing the road,”
The Qukin Lounge management stated.

Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. In a statement, they confirmed that they are reviewing the CCTV footage provided by the club to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
Anthony Njomo’s tragic death has left his family in deep mourning.
A close relative took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking news, adding that Njomo left behind a young son and an unborn baby.
“It’s with great sadness and quite a shock that I share the news of our cousin’s tragic passing. Earlier today at 3 am, Anthony Njomo was shot dead outside Qukin Sports Bar in Kiambu.” the relative wrote.
“Anthony leaves behind a young son and an unborn baby who is soon to enter this world. Cousin, you have left us so fast; I am still in disbelief and don’t know how to grieve you. Lala salama, bro,”

Qukin Sports Lounge expressed their condolences to Njomo’s family and emphasized their commitment to cooperating with the authorities.
“In the presence of close family members and police officers, we reviewed the security footage and handed it over to the investigative authorities. We wish not to comment much about it so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigations,” they stated.
