Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo has stirred things up by filing a censure motion against President William Ruto.
Senator Maanzo surprised many by filing a censure motion against President Ruto instead of impeaching Deputy President Gachagua.

Reasons why Censure Motion was Filed against President Ruto
In his motion, Maanzo does not hold back.
He accuses Ruto of failing to protect Kenyans, pointing to the rising insecurity in various regions.
And the tragic killings during the GenZ youth demonstrations in June.
“Kenyans are feeling abandoned and unsafe,” he remarked, reflecting a growing frustration among the public. People are worried, and Maanzo believes the President should be held accountable for these pressing issues.

The senator also criticized Ruto for implementing significant changes in education and health without involving the public.
“Decisions affecting our lives should involve us,” Maanzo emphasized.
This sentiment resonates with many citizens who feel left out of important discussions that impact their daily lives.
A key point in the censure motion is Ruto’s refusal to sign the Division of Revenue Bill 2024. Maanzo argues this has created financial strain on county governments.
“These delays have real consequences for ordinary Kenyans,” he explained.
DP Gachagua Impeachment Claims
Meanwhile, Gachagua is actively defending himself against the impeachment talk. He argues that the effort to remove him is politically driven, calling it a “witch hunt” after a disagreement with Ruto. This back-and-forth adds even more drama to the political landscape.
There is heavy tension even as police are heavily deployed around Parliament.
This motion could significantly impact not only the President’s reputation but also the whole political scene in Kenya.
