Kenyan actress Sandra Dacha has given a detailed account of the final moments of actor Bilal Wanjau.
He died on Thursday, December 4, 2025 while undergoing treatment at KNH.
Dacha said the trouble began with a small wound on Bilal’s leg about a year ago. Because he had diabetes type II, the wound festered and never fully healed. Because of this, he often used a crutch or walking stick when moving.
On Sunday while in Machakos, Bilal developed difficulty breathing. He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). Doctors stabilised him at KNH, Dacha said, but he did not recover.
“His blood sugar was 11 mmol/L, much higher than the expected 3–4 mmol/L,” she mentioned.
The recurring wound and the high blood sugar worsened his health.
“What started as a small wound on his leg one year ago was unfortunately escalated by his underlying diabetes condition,” she said.
“Yesternight he succumbed and breathed his last.”
Dacha thanked Bilal for his role in her life and career.They met in 2010 at an FHOK event in Eastleigh.
Bilal saw potential in her and sent her to Planets Theatre. There she started acting by doing set books and then her career grew. Dacha says she will always be grateful to him.
