KIAMBU GOVERNOR WAMATANGI AFRAID FOR HIS SAFETY OVER NEARBY SHOOTING

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi is on edge after a live bullet pierced a neighbour’s roof near his home in Kibiku, Kabete, landing inside a children’s bedroom. The incident has raised fears over who fired the shot and why.

Experts say the bullet came from a high-powered rifle, possibly an AK-47, fired from hundreds of metres away in broad daylight around 3 PM. Investigators have not yet determined who fired it.

The neighbour initially thought the loud strike on her roof was a stone. She later discovered the hole and the bullet inside her children’s room. She dusted off the bed before realizing the danger of the situation.

Governor Wamatangi believes the incident could have been meant as a warning or even an assassination attempt.

He has called on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to ensure a thorough investigation, criticizing local security for being slow and unresponsive. He said the origin of the bullet, the weapon used, and the motive must all be clarified.

The shooting has stirred political tension. Kiambu Majority Leader Godfrey Mucheke described the event as alarming, asking how a bullet could land so close to the governor’s home despite nearby security.

He warned that the trajectory of the shot could indicate a deliberate attempt to target Wamatangi and urged authorities to strengthen his protection.
