Police are investigating the death of Lorna Kathambi, a 23-year-old fourth-year student at Daystar University. She died after falling from the 12th floor of an apartment building in Ngara, Nairobi.
According to police, Lorna and a group of university friends were having a party in the apartment on Saturday night. The gathering continued past midnight. Some of the students left and later returned.
Neighbours said the group was making noise and had complained earlier in the night.
Guards on duty then heard a loud bang. When they rushed to check, they found Lorna lying on the ground floor with severe injuries. She had head wounds and was bleeding.
She was confirmed dead at the scene on Sunday morning.
Police arrested the seven people who were with her at the time. They are being questioned to help officers understand how the incident happened.
Investigators say it is still unclear whether Lorna slipped accidentally or if she was pushed after a disagreement. The case is being treated as a possible murder.
Her body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
