Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale was kicked out of the Senate after he refused to withdraw a comment saying former President Uhuru Kenyatta, not President William Ruto, helped free two Kenyan activists detained in Uganda.
The drama began when Khalwale said it was Uhuru who stepped in to help rescue Bob Njagi and Nick Oyoo, who were held in Uganda for 39 days. His claim angered Nandi senator Samson Cherargei, who demanded proof. He asked Khalwale to either show evidence or take back the statement.

Speaker Amason Kingi also directed Khalwale to follow the rules and substantiate his remarks. But Khalwale stood firm. He insisted he did not need to prove anything and said he was being unfairly targeted.
When the Speaker pressed him again, Khalwale said he would “keep quiet.” Kingi rejected this, saying silence was not an option. Since Khalwale still refused to withdraw or provide evidence, the Speaker ruled him out of order.
Khalwale was then ordered to leave the chamber for the rest of the day.
