TIKTOKER NARRATES DATE EXPERIENCE WITH AN ALLEGED SERIAL KILLER

Kenyan TikToker Wangari has shared how she almost died after going on a date with a man who tried to kill her.

Wangari met the man through her first cousin, and that made her trust him.

One day, she stopped by her cousin’s shop in Nairobi CBD, and that is where she met the man. He looked normal, average height, average-looking, and not threatening.

He later started asking about her, and that is how they planned a date.

“We agreed to go out, the three of us, him, my cousin, and I. That gave me theconfidence to go out,” Wangari said.

She said she felt safe because her cousin would be there.

But on the day of the date, her cousin turned off his phone.

“He was mteja, and conveniently so. As a businessperson, they always have their phone on. My gut feeling told me that something was off. Trust your gut instincts, and if something feels off, just leave,” she said.

Even though she felt uneasy, she still went for the date.

The man then suggested they go to a second location, and Wangari, none the wiser, agreed.

They ordered wine, and everything went blank after she had a glass.

Near Death Experience for Wangari

The next thing Wangari remembers was waking up inside the man’s house.

Upon coming to, Wangari was shocked to see the standing over her, holding her own belt around her neck. He was trying to strangle her.

“He was shocked to see me awake. I held on to the belt with all my might. Thank God it was a cheap one,” she said.

Wangari says she fought back as hard as she could until the belt broke.

She quickly ran out of the house and to the rooftop. She hid next to a water tank.

The man tried to search for her for some time. But later gave up and went back to his house.

When he was gone, she ran down and knocked on a neighbour’s door, hoping someone would help.

While there, she saw the man throwing her things out through the window. She rushed to collect them, then called her sister, who told her to wait in Nairobi CBD so she could pick her up.

After the incident, Wangari reported the matter to the police.

She said it took her years to talk about it because it was such a painful memory to relive.

“I have been avoiding this because talking about it means I get to relive one of the most horrific experiences in my life, which is not easy. I figured that maybe sharing this story might save someone’s life. If you can learn from some of the mistakes I did, that would be great. I did not know better, and those are some of the things I have had to learn and forgive myself for,” she said.

Her story has gone viral, and many Kenyans thanked her for sharing it.
