A 19-year-old man who claimed to be President William Ruto’s son has been released after being found trespassing inside the Parliament Buildings.

Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, also known as Nelson Muriithi, was arrested on August 7, 2025, at around 9:30 p.m. inside the Bunge Towers car park. According to police, he was trespassing.

After his arrest, Kidero told officers and the court that he was President Ruto’s son. He said his mother was Angeline Muriithi and that he helped Ruto become President.

“William Samoei Ruto is my father; I helped him to become the president, and my mother is Angeline Muriithi and he is supposed to be my father, so I think there is a mistake going on in Parliament.” Kidero told The Court.

He appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on Thursday, October 9, and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate warned him not to repeat the offence and released him under strict conditions.

Kidero was released to his uncle, Kelvin Chege, who asked the court to take him home. The court told Chege to watch over him and make sure he doesn’t get into trouble again.

“I’m releasing you to your uncle, Kelvin Chege, today, but on the condition that you do not commit any other offence. And at no point, Mr. Chege, should you let him out of your sight,” the magistrate stated.

The court also advised Kidero’s family to take him for medical attention and show more concern for his well-being.
