Kajiado County Revenue Director Vera Moraa is the woman trending for stopping a seven-year-old Grade Two pupil from accessing a shortcut to school simply because the boy had a small fight with her son.
The seven-year-old boy usually rides his bicycle through the public access shortcut road to his school. But because Moraa was unhappy about this boy fighting with her child, she blocked the path with a black gate, forcing him to use a longer route meant for motorists, wasting his time every morning. She even instructed the guards not to open the gate for the boy.
According to the boy’s mother, Moraa demanded that her son apologize before being allowed to use the shortcut again.
The boy apologized three times. Once in school and the second time the child went up to Moraa’s gate, rang it, and apologized.
But Moraa’s anger and beef with the 7-year-old was so strong that she still refused to let him pass.
After the boy’s mother exposed the incident online, Kenyans were outraged, accusing Moraa of abuse of power and entitlement. Many social media users vowed to visit the estate to remove the gate, calling for justice for the Grade 2 student.
Not long after Vera became the trending topic and, afraid of netizens’ retribution, she bowed to pressure after social media backlash. The gate was removed.
Even though the DCI reportedly intimidated the boy’s mother for exposing a Mkubwa wa Serikali, she later thanked Kenyans for their support, saying the public outcry helped restore access to the road.
Vera Moraa Controversial Background
Moraa’s actions have also drawn attention to her controversial background.
Besides flaunting her influence to grab a public road to reserve it for private use, netizens described her as “corrupt to the core.”
She has been linked to questionable dealings both at the Kenya Revenue Authority and in Kajiado County.
In fact, Vera Moraa was grilled in the Senate alongside Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku during a corruption probe on county funds.
She was questioned for signing the Receiver of Revenue statement report, which was full of errors. This errors make it easy to steal public resources.
“Vera Moraa is the Receiver of Revenue who presented a report with clerical mistakes. When it comes to the collection of money, clerical errors are not an excuse, they are often used to cover up the theft of public resources. She is the Receiver of Revenue for Kajiado County,” the Probing Team said.
It is alleged that she holds her current position as Director of County Revenue without proper vetting. And that she lives a lavish lifestyle allegedly funded through public resources.
Others allege she is still occupying the Kajiado County Revenue office illegally months after her contract expired.

These claims, however, remain unverified, and Moraa has not publicly responded to the allegations.
