Mary Biketi, the girlfriend of Cooperatives =Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, has denied rumours that she was dumped and left broke.
The claims started online after blogger Edgar Obare hosted an anonymous Q&A session on Instagram. Around the same time, a Facebook user named Sydney Keari also shared an anonymous message alleging that Biketi and Oparanya had split.
And that Biketi had moved from her high-end house in Kileleshwa to Syokimau or Mlolongo and that she is broke but still using Oparanya’s name to stay relevant.
“Relationship ya Oparanya na side hen iliisha kitambo sana, the chic moved from Kileleshwa nowadays ako Syokimau/Mlolongo alisota. She is still trying to ride on Mheshimiwa’s name,” the anonymous message read.
Biketi responded strongly. She said the rumours were foolish and untrue.
“Mko na ujinga. Bado niko suburbs,” she wrote on Facebook.
She later added, “Someone remind those two that I still reside in a beautiful leafy estate. I honestly can’t recall the last time when I was in the areas they are talking about. While I am busy on real projects in Trans Nzoia, they choose to focus on gossip and misinformation. It is unfortunate, do better.”
How did Mary Biketi and Oparanya Meet?
Mary Biketi has never shied away from speaking about her relationship with Oparanya, whom she calls Daddy.
In the past, Mary Biketi revealed that they first met on a flight from Wilson Airport to Kisumu. Oparanya was seated next to her and he introduced himself.
They later met again at Tamarind Hotel in Nairobi, and from there their relationship grew. Her parents accepted Oparanya, and he even visited her family to formalise their union.
Biketi has no problem being a third wife, as long as her needs are met and that she does not feel stressed by his other marriages.
“As long as I’m okay and have everything I need, I don’t stress. He always comes back to me. After me, there will be no other,” she once declared.
She also made it clear that she respects his other wives and does not want interference from outsiders.
Oparanya himself has addressed his relationship with Biketi. In a past interview, he said that after politics he needed someone to keep him company because his wives, Priscilla and Caroline, live in different places and are often occupied.
“Sometimes you just need to relax with a beautiful lady around you. That is why I have her,” he said.
Their relationship first became public in April 2024 when photos of the two surfaced online. Biketi was criticised for sharing them, but Oparanya confirmed the photos were real. He said they were leaked to the media but insisted they were decent.
“I have seen someone circulating my photos, genuine, decent photos. I don’t know why someone wastes time trying to circulate them, but it is unfortunate they leaked. I don’t know the interest that people have,” he said.
He added that he has a family to protect and urged people to stop spreading them.
The last time Biketi posted about Oparanya was in March this year when she shared a loving birthday message and a short video clip of them together.
But she has also gone through painful times. In 2024, she revealed that she lost her pregnancy five months in. She said the stress after her photos with Oparanya leaked and went viral played a role in the loss. She described it as heartbreaking but thanked her friends for supporting her during that time.
Even with all these rumours and criticism, Biketi has made it clear that she is still living well, still in a good estate, and still with Oparanya. She says she is focused on her projects and not on gossip.
