CCTV footage contradicted this account. At around 7:30 p.m., two men were seen walking into Kitavi’s compound. At 8:00 p.m., Kitavi himself appeared on camera, strolling casually into the house. By 8:40 p.m., one suspect was seen leaving. A minute later, another man, dressed in black trousers and a white cap, also walked out.

Detectives believe Allan Kioko Kitavi, was killed inside the house between 8:00 and 8:40 p.m. The footage helped police identify and arrest Stephen Kioko, Kitavi’s step-son, as the main suspect.

According to his daughter, when they saw his body, it was unclothed, with burns, serious neck wounds, and bleeding from the nose and head, a scene she described as deeply disturbing.

Police, who have ruled the murder as one of the most gruesome, are investigating a long-running property dispute as a possible motive.

Two months before his death, Kitavi had reported losing important documents, including academic certificates, land title deeds, and a motor vehicle logbook.

Kitavi was well known in Komarock for his years of community service. Residents and the association he once led have called for swift justice. Police investigations are ongoing.
