ICT expert Ndiangui Kinyagia is seeking protection from the High Court, saying his life is in danger. He also asked the court to extend earlier orders that stopped the police from arresting him.

Ndiangui Kinyagia says he is still traumatised after going missing and wants more time to prepare his disappearance case with his lawyers.

Kinyagia said this on July 24, when he appeared before Justice Chacha Mwita at the Milimani Law Courts.

I seek your protection because I fear for my life and my arrest. Plea to this court is to extend the orders that you had given that I not be arrested by the police,” Kinyagia said.

Kinyagia’s went missing after posting a June 25 protests timetable which ended with hanging of Ruto. He is now accused of helping to organise the anti-government protests.

Ndiangui Kinyagia Disappearance

Kinyagia first went missing on June 21, 2025 a few days after posting the protests timetable.

He left his home in Kinoo without his gadgets and could not be reached for almost two weeks.

Neighbours said DCI officers raided his home and took his devices without a court order.

His family and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) believed he had been abducted.

The High Court then ordered the Inspector General of Police and DCI boss Mohamed Amin to produce him in court or explain where he was.

And a day later, on July 3, 2025, Kinyagia reappeared at the Milimani Law Courts.

Kinyagia said he went into hiding because he feared for his life.

But even netizens speculate he may have been taken by rogue police officers.

When Kinyagia came back, he appeared traumatized. And he spotted a rough prisoner-style buzz cut instead of his usual neat afro.

Also a day before Kinyagia was released, government blogger Osama Otero posted about it and said his hair had been shaved. A coincidence or not?

The court then gave temporary orders stopping the police from arresting or detaining him. And that police could only question him if his lawyers were present.

But this court orders do not stop the police from arresting him if there is a legal reason.

Justice Mwita gave Kinyagia 14 days to file a sworn affidavit explaining what happened during the time he was missing.

At the same time, the Law Society of Kenya and Senior Counsel Martha Karua stepped down from representing Kinyagia.

He is represented by Kibe Mungai and Wahome Thuku.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and other respondents said they do not want any more delays in the case. They asked the court to continue with the case without giving more time.

The case will be mentioned again on September 16, 2025. On that day, the court will check if Kinyagia followed its directions and decide what to do next.
