Thika Road is experiencing a heavy traffic snarl-up near the Kenyatta University main campus after residents discovered a body dumped in a nearby river.
The body was found on the morning of Friday, June 6, 2025, floating near the China Square area, close to the banks of a small river that runs along the busy Thika Superhighway.
Eyewitnesses say the body, believed to be female, was spotted by passersby who immediately raised the alarm. Locals suspect it was dumped there, as it appeared lifeless and partially submerged.
The incident has drawn large crowds, leading to slow movement of vehicles near Ruiru and Clay Works. Curious onlookers have gathered on both sides of the road and river, waiting for police officers to arrive and retrieve the body.
At the time of publishing, authorities had not yet removed the body, and the cause of death remains unknown.
This incident adds to the day’s chaos on Thika Road, which has already seen traffic disruptions due to other accidents, including one near Mang’u High School.
Police are expected to launch investigations to determine the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the death.
