Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has opened up about the heartbreaking loss of her son, Elvis Murakana Namenya, 26, who died in a tragic car accident. She shared the painful details during his memorial service at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa.

Elachi recounted that on the night of the accident, Elvis was already in bed when he received a call from a friend asking for a favor. He got up and left the house at around 10:30 PM. On his way back, his car suffered a tire burst. In a desperate attempt to regain control, he pressed the emergency brakes—a move that proved fatal. The car skidded out of control, and he sustained a severe head injury that ultimately led to his passing.

She explained that the impact caused his brain to shift out of its lobe, making survival impossible. Despite doctors doing their best, she instinctively knew her son had already passed. “On Saturday, I looked at Elvis and knew he was gone to heaven. I didn’t even tell the doctors. I just knew,” she said.
During her speech, Elachi advised young drivers on the dangers of emergency braking after a tire burst. She urged them to hold the steering wheel firmly and try to keep the car steady instead of braking suddenly.
The MP also took a moment to pray for Elvis’s friends and wished them success in their careers. She acknowledged the challenges of raising children in today’s world and called on parents to pray for their children.
Elachi expressed gratitude to everyone who had supported her family during this difficult time. She was particularly thankful for the prayers and comfort she received from friends, family, and colleagues.
