Bonfire co-founders, estranged couple Sarah and Simon Kabu have been slapped with lawsuit by their former nanny, identified as JK, who is demanding Ksh 21 million in damages.
The lawsuit, filed at the Employment and Labour Relations Court, accuses Simon Kabu and his estranged wife, Sarah Njoki Nyaga, of sexual harassment, breach of confidentiality, and reputational damage.

JK was hired in June 2024 as a nanny and homeschool teacher for the Kabus’ children. She claims that her job quickly became unstable due to the couple’s troubled marriage.
Things allegedly took a violent turn in July 2024 when Sarah, suspecting an affair between JK and Simon, attacked her with a kitchen knife, injuring her arm.
JK says she reported the assault to the police and sought medical treatment.
The situation escalated in December 2024 when CCTV footage from the Kabus’ home surfaced online. The video allegedly showed Sarah assaulting JK, who ran away during the altercation.
JK insists she was unaware she was being recorded and never consented to the surveillance. She accuses Simon of leaking the footage, leading to public humiliation and cyberbullying.

What are Sarah and Simon Kabu Getting Sued on?
The lawsuit details JK’s claims and demands compensation:
- Sexual Harassment: JK alleges that Sarah subjected her to sexual harassment and is seeking Ksh 7 million in damages.
- Breach of Confidentiality: She accuses Simon of unlawfully leaking the CCTV footage, violating her privacy, and demands another Ksh 7 million.
- Reputational Damage: JK says the video’s release led to cyberbullying and public shaming, causing her emotional distress. She seeks an additional Ksh 7 million for this.
Simon Kabu has filed an objection, arguing that the Employment and Labour Relations Court does not have jurisdiction over the matter.
The case is set for mention before Justice Bernard Matanga.
