Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of deploying an officer to follow him from Nairobi to Makueni.
Taking to social media, Gachagua expressed frustration over what he described as a misuse of public resources.
He shared photos of the alleged officer and the vehicle reportedly used to trail him during his trip on December 17.
The officer, dressed in a grey sweater and white shirt, was photographed alongside a grey car, which Gachagua claims was part of the operation.

In his post, Gachagua called out the NIS for wasting fuel and man-hours on what he considered an unnecessary task. He urged the agency to redirect such efforts toward enhancing national security.
“It was pointless to waste fuel and man-hours having him follow us all the way from Nairobi to Makueni yesterday,” Gachagua stated.
He suggested a more efficient approach, recommending that local officers in Makueni be tasked with monitoring his speeches if needed, rather than deploying resources from Nairobi.
“This would save public funds. Your officers in Makueni can listen, record, and send the information instead of trailing me,” he added.
The NIS has yet to respond to the accusations.
