Ugandan musician and record label founder Jose Chameleone is currently hospitalized due to acute pancreatitis.
And amidst the publicity, netizens are wondering, why did Chameleone and his his ex-wife Daniella Atim separate after 16 years?
Well, Daniella has opened up about her past struggles.
Daniella, who moved to the United States five years ago, revealed that domestic violence was one of the reasons she sought asylum.
She described enduring 16 years of abuse during their marriage. But that she mentally and emotionally checked out of that marriage in 2016.
And eventually up and left in 2018 after carefully planning her exit for two whole years!
“I moved to the US exactly five years ago and sought asylum from many things, including domestic violence that I endured for 16 years,” she shared.
Was Jose Chameleon Drinking Problem also a Factor?
Daniella also mentioned Chameleone’s heavy drinking as a big problem in their marriage. She said his drinking often disrupted their family life, with him coming home very late at night or even in the wee morning hours.
In August 2023, the singer graduated from Cavendish University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy.
And during his graduation dinner, his father publicly appealed to him to stop drinking, warning that the family could lose him if he continued with the habit.
Now living in a Minnesota suburb with her five children, Daniella considers herself a single mother.
She credits her faith in Jesus for helping her heal and find strength. “His grace, love, and mercy changed everything for me,” she wrote.
Despite the hardships, Daniella has embraced her new life, focusing on raising her children and personal growth.
“I am a single mum raising my five kids on my own. I am choosing to relive my early life while healing my nervous system. I am a beautiful work in progress,” she added.
She also shared how she is rediscovering her social side after years of isolation and is optimistic about her future.
“I wasn’t social for a very long time, and I am enjoying it now. I am a foodie, and I love coffee and hot tea,” she said.
After her public confession, Chameleon asked her not to wash their dirty linen in public.
Eventually, she deleted the post, but she filed a restraining order against her ex-husband in 2023.
