In a video shared by Obinna on social media, he provided updates on their mission.

“Quick Update- Picked Kim from thika, Passed by Mathare now waiting for instructions from Dad and Mum then we proceed. Will give final update by evening on conclusion.” Obinna explained.

Kimani Mbugua’s Father Blames Drugs

This intervention came after an interview with Mbugua’s father on the Oga Obinna Show Live, earlier this week.

Addressing his son’s mental health struggles, Mbugua’s father disclosed that his son suffers from bipolar disorder and issued an apology to those affected by Mbugua’s erratic online behavior.

He traced the origin of his son’s issues back four years, recounting an incident during Kimani’s birthday celebration where his drink was allegedly spiked, leading to disturbing behavior.

“He had a bash, ilikuwa birthday yake and it was big. The sister took his phone akapitia akaona picha alikuwa anaanguka akitapika na kuna wasichana wanampiga,” Kimani’s father revealed to the YouTuber.

According to Kimani’s father, a toxicology report later revealed high traces of marijuana and other hard drugs in his system. Despite their family’s strict adherence to SDA principles, the discovery shocked them deeply.

“So I told my daughter if we could consolidate the phone but how it got lost we don’t know. We wanted the evidence that was there. We did a toxicology and it was discovered there was Marijuana and other stuffs. I did my investigations and I found out most of his friends were on those things. So I concluded my son was spiked. And the effect, hard drugs,” Kimani’s father explained.

The situation took a turn for the worse when Kimani had to be hospitalized, restrained and incoherent.

“The girlfriend took him to the hospital. I went and found him tied up, speaking incoherently. It broke my heart. When he saw me he even called me by my real names. That is when I saw darkness during daytime,” Kimani’s father shared.

He also called for support from well-wishers to aid his son in his time of need.

Kimani Mbugua enjoyed a successful career in journalism, working at Nation FM and later at Royal Media, where he appeared on Citizen TV, Inooro TV, and Hot 96. However, he left the public eye in 2020 and has since opened up about his struggles with mental illness, exacerbated by heavy marijuana use.
