SUSPECT IN EASTLEIGH SHOOTING & 3.97M ROBBERY ARRESTED BUYING A CAR

One of the suspected gang members that shot 26-year-old Adan Ali Mohammed in broad daylight in Eastleigh and robbed him of Sh.3.97 Million has been arrested.

The suspect was apprehended in Mombasa while allegedly attempting to purchase a vehicle using money believed to have been stolen during the March 30, 2024 incident.

Invesrigators tracked the suspect’s movements from Nairobi to Mombasa and swiftly apprehended him. He was identified as a person of interest placed at the scene of the crime.

“We have a suspect and he is being brought to Nairobi. The man had gone to buy a car in Mombasa using some of the cash robbed from the victim in hospital,” a police officer confirmed.

The suspect, upon his return to Nairobi, was placed in police custody as authorities continue their search for other individuals involved in the crime.

The incident, captured by security cameras, unfolded on Muratina street at around 11 am, where the gunman on a motorcycle intercepted Adan Ali Mohammed, who was riding as a pillion passenger on another motorcycle. Adan was headed to deposit the money at a bank at BBS Mall.

Security footage showed the gunman demanding the bag carrying the cash from the victim, Adan, who hesitated before being shot at close range. The suspect then grabbed the bag and fled the scene.

Wellwishers rushed Adan to the nearby Health Gate Hospital.

Doctors confirmed that the victim sustained severe injuries to his spinal cord when the bullet exited through his back.

Police, led by Starehe police boss Fred Abuga, reiterated their commitment to apprehending the criminals and urged business owners to install security cameras to aid in investigations.

Detectives are also exploring the possibility of whether the robbery was an inside job.
