Embarambamba, the controversial Kisii gospel artist, is once again facing a storm of criticism over his latest music video, ‘Niko Uchi’ which loosely translates to ‘am naked.’ To make matters worse, Embarambamba dances suggestively in the music video while naked with only a yellow sheet covering his nether regions. The song has stirred controversy online with worried parents complaining about its effect on their children.

KFCB Warning

Subsequently, the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) ordered for the song’s removal for violating The Films and Stage Plays Act, including purported nudity and vulgarity. KFCB also stated that the song invites ridicule to the Christian religion.

Nelly Muluka, acting CEO of KFCB, highlighted the public outcry over the inappropriate content in Embarambamba’s recent work, especially its potential negative effect on impressionable children.

Embarambamba Defends his Music

Embarambamba responded to the criticism with a video, urging an open-minded approach and expressing disappointment at calls for a ban. He emphasized that the message of his music is often misunderstood, encouraging listeners to gain a complete understanding by focusing on the message and listening to his music from start to finish.

“People are saying that Embarambamba’s songs are obscene. However, the problem people have is related to understanding the song. Do not just listen to the first part and judge. Listen to my songs from start to finish.”

Despite the KFCB’s order to remove “Niko Uchi” from all media platforms, Embarambamba remains firm, asserting he is a gospel artist following God’s instructions, albeit unconventionally.
