SOUTH AFRICA REMOVES VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR KENYANS

South Africa removed visa requirements for Kenyans travelling to the country beginning January 2023 for a maximum of 90 days annually. 

President Cyril Ramaphosa who is in the country for a two-day official visit, announced on Wednesday that an agreement had been reached to allow Kenyans to move without the travel document. 

“We have discussed the issue of visas between South Africa and Kenya, with a view to allowing Kenyans to visit South Africa on a visa-free basis. This will officially start on January 1, 2023 and it will be available to Kenyans for a 90-day period per year,”  

Said Cyril.

Taking to his twitter account President Ruto said: “From January 1, 2023, we will have a different regime. Kenyans holding ordinary passports will be allowed to enter South Africa on a Visa-free regime for up to 90 days per calendar year,” .

South Africans have since 2017 been able to visit Nairobi without a visa for up to 90 days. Since South African nationals, have it easier getting a Kenyan Visa for free on arrival to the countr

Kenya has long expressed discomfort with the visa issue.

Because the Visas take at least five days to be processed by the South African government and include Sh5,350 processing fee.

Ramaphosa also confirmed that the two countries would continue to work together to strengthen their relations.
