A mzungu man identified as Simon Harold was on 25th May freed on a cash bail of 300k. The mzungu was accused of running over and killing his wife Jacinta Njoki in Malindi in 2018.
His wife perished in a road accident on the Thalathameli-Kaoyeni road in Ganda, Kilifi County. She is alleged to have died after her husband ran over the motorbike that was ferrying her moments after an argument.
The couple reportedly had an argument and Njoki left the farm in the same motorbike that had ferried her. Simon is said to have trailed the woman using his vehicle. Even though the boda boda rider attempted to evade his Mitsubishi, he kept pursuing them. He then ran over them after they fell into a ditch. Njoki would later be rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Harold pleaded not guilty to the murder charge before the Malindi High Court. Justice Stephen Githinji ordered that he should clear half a million Kenya shillings bond and a surety of the same amount or a cash bail of Ksh. 300,000 to be free.
The prosecution had initially sought to have the accused denied bail on grounds that he was a flight risk and that he could influence key witnesses in the case, but the prayer was dismissed.
“The prosecution, in my view, has failed to file a compelling reason which would entitle to this court to deny the accused bail or bond. I will admit him to bond or bail. He may be released on a bond of Ksh.0.5 million and a surety of the same amount or a cash bail of Ksh. 300,000.” ruled Justice Githinji.

Simon will also be required to deposit his passport with the court; the case was set for mentioning on October 19, 2022.
There’s definitely no justice in Kenya
