Former musician Marya finally addressed rumors that she once worked in a brothel.
A few months ago, a fan reached out to popular blogger Edgar Obare bearing receipts that Marya had been working in a brothel.
But when Edgar reached out to the beauty, she hesitated to affirm or deny the rumors. She just claimed that her enemies were after her, metaphorically speaking.
In an interview with well-known YouTuber Mungai Eve, Marya opened up about the struggles of being a female artist, being a single mother, and working at a brothel.
The Chokoza hitmaker revealed that when she began doing music under Ogopa Deejays, she was too young. And barely knew how to manage money. And therefore ended up making the worst decisions on money.
The mother of one said that she has taken a break from music due to lack of money. She said that music producers tend to overcharge her because of her name. And she realized she could not match up to that.
Battling depression
Marya also disclosed that she was battling depression for two years. She said that she came back to Kenya from Dubai after a failed marriage. And even had suicidal thoughts. I wanted to kill myself and kill my son!
Marya revealed that she is yet to get herself together. Even though she had to pull herself out of the depression and fight for her son.
“I needed to fight for my survival. I am still struggling to come back, I had to remove myself from that depression mode. She said.
Working in a brothel
The former artist added that she has been having it rough, being a single mother and having to provide for her son. She said that she was trying to make ends meet, trying to get a job and all that.
It was during the tarmacking that she found herself among a group of bad women. And her name went down the drain.
Upon being asked what that meant she said that everything she did, she did it for her son. I made the worst choices associating with the people I thought had the best interest for me. But at least my son was happy” she said.
Marya claimed that when Edgar reached out to her, he did not listen to her side of the story but ended up exposing her. As a result, the story was twisted and she comes across people who insult her.
“I have never overcome since that story went viral. You meet people and they insult you badly. They call me names and they don’t believe me when I tell them the story was twisted.
Eve demanded to know if she is mad at Edgar for ruining her reputation. But she said she has nothing against him.
When I tried to explain myself, Edgar did not want to listen to my side of the story. But I wish this thing played out out differently. she said.
