Kenya’s on Twitter have expressed their utter shock, disbelief, and disgust at the news of two men being imprisoned to fifty years for transporting marijuana.
In a thread seen on the official DCI Twitter page, the two are expected to spend the rest of their lives behind prison walls.
So the two men Mohammed Oloo and Abraham Hassan, were arrested earlier last year as they were transporting bags of bhang to Nairobi.
An informer must have set them up because the detectives intercepted the two on the way. And the lorry they were used to ferry had been divided into compartments at the top, where the bags of cannabis disguised as bags of cement were carefully kept.

So in a ruling by the senior Resident magistrate Wajir Court, Mugendi Nyagah sentenced the two men to fifty years in prison each. And a fine of 63 million.
However, Abraham Hassan absconded the court session but his one million bond was forfeited to the state. A warrant for his arrest was also issued and detectives are already combing the country in search of him.

The owner of the lorry was also granted fourteen days to show why the lorry should not be forfeited to the state.
Reactions
Kenya’s on Twitter flocked the DCI page guns blazing as they aired their various opinions in regards to the ruling. Most of them marveled at how quick petty cases are solved while politicians walk freely despite doing despicable things.
Here are a few reactions:
Sasa bangi ni kitu ya kufungia mtu 50yrs? While murderers are getting half term sentences
Lakini sentencing those politicians stealing from us is where y’all draw the line
Walukwe was sentenced to 69 years so was Wakhungu. Sentencing procedures are statutory, the lines are drawn by the silly MPs you elect and certainly will elect this August. The penal code remains largely colonial.
These kind of colonial era laws should be scrapped off
Really? Babu Owino shot someone’s son and he is still free?
What are your thoughts?
They so quick to execute a judgement on this but politicians is where they draw the line 😂smh
