Shelmith Kiprono alias Jerop is making headlines for stealing 104 million Kenyan shillings from her employer in Lang’ata.

Kiprono is said to have stolen cash of Sh. 4 million, 806,000 dollars, and jewelry worth Ksh 4 million belonging to her employer Samar Al-Kindy.

The accused had been in police custody since last week after the was arrested in Eldoret.

According to police reports, only 2.5 million shillings were recovered out of the 104m.

Through her lawyer Dunstan Omari, Shelmith told the court that she had been receiving threats because of the case. And wanted the bond terms issued to her four other co-accused to be canceled.

Omari told the court that the other four, who are her accomplices, were granted a Sh7 million bond which was later reviewed to Sh1 million.

He argued that the bond did not tally with the money that was stolen from his client.

He also said that the first accused Caleb Rasto, who managed to pay the bond, would not show up in court. Rasto’s lawyer had told the court that his client cannot run away because his co-accused Jackline Kinzi and Eunice Moi are his wives.

Senior Principal Magistrate Elena Riany suspended the bail terms issued for all the accused pending mention. A warrant of arrest has been issued against Caleb who had claimed he is unwell. To be mentioned on Thursday.
